Say hello to the newest cozy pattern in the Little Red Knits family – the Sea Breeze Blanket!
This blanket has all the texture you could ever wish for, with repetitive and beginner friendly stitches to keep you going for rows and rows. I stumbled upon this stitch by accident, if I am being perfectly honest, but I absolutely love the way it turned out. By working this stitch in flat rows, it created a surprise texture that I fell in love with. But don’t worry! It’s super simple and I have instructions below to make this simple and smooth for you to complete.
This is actually my first ever graded pattern, and the full version is available in 9 different sizes! *yay* I have done all the math for you for each size, complete with yardage needed with or without tassels. My sample was made with Pound Of Love in the color Succulent by Lion Brand Yarn, which comes with a ton of yardage in each skein, making this a very budget friendly blanket for any size. I have the free pattern below for the 4×6 size, but you can also choose to purchase the ready to make kit which includes the yarn and pattern straight from Lion Brand!
Don’t forget to pin this post to save for later if you can’t make it right now!

Pattern Notes
- Pattern is written in standard US terms, modeled after the Craft Yarn Council
- Pattern uses half double crochet + single crochet together. To keep the correct stitch count, this repeat is done over the stitch just worked and the next stitch until the end of the row. The directions are explained above, and “hdcsc2tog” will refer to this throughout
- The numbers in parentheses at the end of each row indicate the stitch count
- The yardage given does not account for the tassels, however, each tassel requires approx. 4 yards, and you can decide how many you’d like to add to your blanket
- Pattern is any multiple of stitches + 1 for the foundation chain, and can be made as wide or long as possible. However, keep in mind, your gauge, yardage used, and finished size may vary depending on the yarn you choose and if you make your blanket larger or smaller than the pattern sample
- The first part of the hdcsc2tog will be inserted into the ch 1 at beginning of each row, (refer to photo below), and it’s a good idea to keep the chain 1 slightly loose so it’s easier to work into
Pattern
Row 1: ch 110, hdcsc2tog in 1st ch from hook and next ch, * hdcsc2tog over st just worked and next ch, repeat * to end of row, turn – (109)
Row 2: ch 1, hdcsc2tog in ch 1 and next st, * hdcsc2tog over st just worked and next st,
repeat * to end of row, turn – (109)
Rows 3-125: Repeat row 2, 123 more times, or until your blanket reaches 72″, turn. Do not cut yarn. – (109)
Border
Round 1: ch 1, sc evenly around blanket, making 3sc in each corner st, turn
Round 2: ch 1, sc 1 in each st around, making 3sc in each corner st
Cut yarn, tie off, and weave in all ends
Tassels (Optional)
Step 1: Wrap yarn around a piece of cardboard or thin book about 6” wide 30 times, & cut on one end
Step 2: Feed a scrap piece 30” long under the opposite side of the tails, and double knot very tight
Step 3: Take another 30” piece of yarn and lay it under the tassel, 1” from the top
Step 4: Wrap each end around a few times and double knot. Use a tapestry needle to weave ends under the wrapping you just created
Step 5: Cut bottom of tassel so it has a nice and even edge
Step 6: Attach to your blanket as desired with the tails from step 2
Repeat steps 1-6 for as many tassels as you desire. For the 4×6 sample, I made 9 tassels for each edge and attached them 6” apart. Each tassel requires approximately 4 yards
