Without further adieu, please welcome the Easy Breezy Knit Poncho! The Easy Breezy Knit Poncho transforms a basic shape into a beautiful airy garment. This design uses beginner knitting skills and stitches to create open lacework, and takes self striping yarn to a whole new level. Your finished poncho will be a statement piece over any outfit and can be worn through many seasons.
I designed this knit poncho with Lion Brand Mandala Baby in the color Echo Caves. I saw this yarn last year with at my local Joann and had to have it because I could not get over how beautiful the blues and greens faded into each other. This colorway has all of my favorite shades in one, and I felt like it was made for me. I purchased two skeins for around $12, so I call that a major win!
As the weather started getting warmer, I felt called to make this into a beautiful and airy poncho. I have been wanting to expand my knitting skills and play around with lacework, so I purchased a few knitting books and got to work.
If you have been around with me for a little while, you may already know that my design style is beginner friendly that looks more complicated than it actually is. I love taking basic shapes, stitches, and meditative repetition to make a beautiful finished garment or accessory.
So before I knew it, the Easy Breezy Knit Poncho was born. I took a super basic shape and simple 1 row repeat and seamed it up to make an asymmetrical poncho. This pattern has been graded for sizes XS/S (M/L, XL/2X, 3X/4X, 5X) and it uses 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) skeins of Mandala Baby by Lion Brand Yarn. It is now offered as a kit with Lion Brand (click HERE to shop) and that means you can get the yarn AND pdf pattern to make your own poncho for $15.98-$23.97 ! This weekend Lion Brand is offering a “Wonder Wheel” so you can spin the wheel to get up to 35% off off, so you can save tons on this, and all kits.
The inexpensive pdf pattern is now available in my Etsy and Ravelry shops, and you can use the code ‘EASYBREEZY20’ through 4/11 to get the pattern for 20% off. I also included video support for those who may be intimidated by the lacework – but I promise you can do it! It looks way more complex than it is, but I did make a tutorial that is included in the pattern and kit to give you peace of mind and help you along the way.
