Hey guys!
Thank goodness March is finally over, am I right?! I thought it would be fun to start off each month with pattern rounds ups, with a different theme for each one. So, the first Friday of every month I will list a few free patterns, both knit and crochet, that I have either made myself or are on my make list. I will include links to the designer blog posts for the free patterns and also links to purchase their inexpensive ad-free copies, (if available).
Now is the perfect time to stash bust and cast on some selfish projects! So without further adieu, let’s get to it!
April’s Theme: Shawls & Wraps
If you have been following me for a minute, it’s no secret that I love making and designing shawls. Some of my favorite designs and finished projects that I have made for myself have been my shawls. I am currently designing my first ever fingering weight shawl and I can’t wait to show you the finished piece! Here is a little sneak peek, and this will be coming out in late May or early June!
For this design, I am using the Coffee House Collection yarn by Hickory Lane Fiber Co. that I purchased in fall of 2019. I am so pleased with how this is going and I am so excited about this design, I hope you all love it so far!

Only my e-mail list will get the special discounts on pattern releases, so I highly recommend signing up if you like saving money!
So today I will be highlighting 4 free shawl patterns, a mix of both knit and crochet. Here we go!
1 – Spade Fade Shawl by Annie Design Crochet (Crochet Pattern)
This crochet shawl is a really great beginner fade crochet project. It calls for sport weight yarn, however, it is very easy to customize this pattern and apply it to any category yarn. I personally made this pattern using 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn and it’s one of my favorite light weight shawls!

This is my finished Spade Fade Shawl that I made on my summer trip to Calgary for OML using The Farmers Daughter Fibers yarn that I purchased on my trip to Jackson, WY.

2 – Summer Nights Shawl by Evelyn and Peter (Crochet Pattern)
This pattern was designed using Lion Brand Comfy Cotton along with Lion Brand Summer Nights, and these two yarns together create a lightweight shawl that is perfect for Spring and Summer. This project is definitely on my make list, considering I have both of these yarns in my stash! I used to buy yarn when they were on sale or when it was something that I had been wanting to try. Hence the reason my stash has been a little out of control, *oopsie*. But I am trying to be more intentional with my yarn purchases – only buying when I have a specific project or design in mind.
During this quarantine time, I have been trying to stash bust and make things with yarn I already have so this project is definitely one I will be making in the next week or so! Thank you Rachel for sharing this pattern with us, I am very excited for this!

3 – Coffee Shop Wrap by Two of Wands (Knit Pattern)
This pattern was what made me fall in love with handmade shawls. I always had a love for flowey scarves and wraps for spring and summer, but when I saw this design, I knew I had to make it some day. I am a super slow knitter, so I may opt for the Tea House Wrap first, which is the crochet version. But I WILL make them both one day, lol. Alexi is such an innovative designer and I have always admired her style. Both of these wraps are really great stash busters as well! This pattern was designed using Lion Brand Heartland Yarn but that can most definitely be substituted for any worsted weight #4 yarn – or whatever you have in your stash!

4 – Lace Triangle Shawl by Knifty Knittings (Knit Pattern)
Destiny is a knitting wizard! Her video tutorials are mesmerizing, and I love watching her knit. She was my travel buddy for OML 2019 and I had such a blast hanging with her. She has wonderful beginner friendly knitting patterns and the Lace Triangle Scarf is one of the many. I especially love the long fringe on this design, it’s so pretty and perfect for summer with jeans and and a T shirt. This pattern was designed with We Are Knitters The Cotton, and also includes instructions to make a chunky version using Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick! Her blog has all of her free patterns and fun video tutorials, so I highly suggest heading there to check out more!
