I wanted a Namaste Maker’s Back Pack the moment I started seeing them pop up on my instafeed. But after I saw those beauties IRL, I knew I was going to purchase one ASAP.
My first Namaste back pack purchase was in the color Plum. When it arrived, I was impressed beyond measure. The quality of the zippers, lining, the size, the pockets galore! Everything was so thoughtful and beautiful. The little details including the stitch marker on the key chain, the ruler on the inside, the yarn guide, and the needle, and little notebook are just a few of the small, yet mighty, thoughtful details that went into each bag.
It was so hard to pick a color, but as my business is Little Red Knits, I knew I had to go with the plum. It’s a deep red/purple and matched my logo and aesthetic perfectly. I believe this color is no longer offered, but they do come in 15 other colors, including a Raspberry and Purple which are similar to the Plum, (pictured below).
After having the bag for about 6 months, Jimmy Beans came out with more colors, and when I saw the White and Gold – I was absolutely stunned at the beauty! The bright creamy white was so perfect for summer, and if anyone knows me, they know I LOVE gold. Of course I instantly showed my husband how I admired the new color line, but I already had one so, alas, I would just have to admire it because I definitely did not need another one. However, being the amazing husband he is, he surprised me with one for my birthday! And yes, although I already had one, I just decided I would split my time using both of them equally. 😊 Plum in the winter/fall and white in the spring/summer – perfection!
Right after I received the white back pack, I went to Calgary for Our Maker Life, 2019! I had to choose which bag to bring, but being summer and how excited I was for my new white gorgeous bag, I chose to take that one. At OML, I was so thrilled to hear that the found/CEO of Jimmy Beans Wool was a guest speaker! Laura was beyond amazing. She shared her story of how Jimmy Beans came to life and the birth of the collaboration between her company and Namaste. She was so down to earth and became a crowd favorite instantly, which made me love supporting her company even more. After her speech, I was lucky enough to meet Laura and chat with her for a little while. I showed her my new white back pack of course, and then realized that the two of us were the only ones with the white bags in a sea of makers backpacks in the venue! *so cool*
Fast forward to Winter 2020 – the MAKER’S MINI BACKPACK comes out! *gasp*
I said to my husband – I must have one of these. I do not care if I have all of the Namaste items, I NEED this mini back pack. It seemed like the perfect size for a project bag/purse/travel bag/perfect in Every. Single. Way.
I received the black maker’s mini back pack and it exceeded my expectations. The same amazing quality and thoughtful details that I saw in the large bags were carried into the minis, and the black with chrome zipper/details is absolutely classic and stunning. The mini back packs also have the ruler on the inside, come with a darning needle and little graph notebook in one of their many pockets. This thing may be “mini”, but it holds so much! I was able to fit 8 skeins of hand dyed yarn, my crochet case (which is not small by any means), and my planner, with room to spare. The mini bag has 3 main zippers, with loads of pockets and smaller spaces to organize your tools, pencils, yarn, or wallet/purse essentials. It also has the tassel and stitch marker like the large bag, and includes the yarn guide.
Although this bag is not large enough to fit a standard lap top, and that’s quite alright with me. The larger back packs have more than enough room to fit a laptop up to 18″, so the mini is more of a purse size, which my smaller purse fits into along with my yarn, and that is exactly what I was looking for! It’s the perfect size to carry around town so you always have your projects on the go, while staying every so fashionable.
My favorite detail on this mini backpack has to be the clip that secures the 3 zipper areas together. It’s such a cool and different detail that I have not seen on any back pack or purse out there. The quality of the clip also speaks volumes to the care and thought they put into this design. Nothing about these bags feel cheap, and are 100% worth the money.
I absolutely love this company, and I am definitely not done supporting their brand or buying their products, either. I am so in love with these bags and 100% recommend any and all of their products to makers, or non makers! I know this is geared towards knitters and crocheters with the small details that are included in the bag, but these would make an amazing bag/purse/backpack/diaper bag for anyone, really! I always receive so many compliments on mine when I wear them in public, and although I tell them it’s a “makers backpack” after showing people the details – they always inquire where they can get one, too!
I hope you all enjoyed my review on the Makers back pack and mini back pack! You can find all of the Jimmy Beans Wool x Make Namaste items and colletions at www.jimmybeanswool.com
