Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! It’s snowing nonstop here in Michigan the past 24 hours, so this pattern release is very fitting for my midwestern friends!

Please give a warm welcome to the Mariner Throw. The Mariner Throw is the perfect home accent for any space, year round. This design uses simple stitches to create an airy, net-like fabric that lends itself to it’s nautical name.

I wanted to make a lighter weight crochet blanket that could be used all year round as well as in warmer climates, so simple and airy stitches were definitely floating around in my head when trying to come up with a unique stitch pattern. I made a bunch of sample swatches to see what would be the right texture and feel for this new blanket and I stumbled on one that I, myself, have not used before and also have not seen in other patterns out there. This stitch is a slight variation of a very popular stitch, but with one extra motion, it transforms into a very airy and textured fabric. In my opinion, crochet always seems and feels like a lot of knots, so that combined with the net-like fabric and this beautiful navy color, my nautical blanket and vision came to life.

My sample was made with Pound of Love in the color Navy by Lion Brand Yarn, which is one of my favorites to make blankets with. One skein of POL has over 1,000 yards, is made with premium acrylic, comes in tons of colors, and is super affordable! Lion Brand is running a sale right now through 2/22, which includes 35% off all yarn and kits so you can make this blanket for as low as $18.18. Add tassels or fringe, or whatever your heart desires to make it your own beautiful throw. Also don’t forget that you can choose whatever color from the Pound of Love line to make your blanket in, so the hardest decision will be which of the 36 options will you choose?!
