I have some very big & exciting news for you. Lion Brand just released a BRAND NEW yarn, called Local Grown, and it’s a 100% USA Wool!

But what does that mean, you say? Well it’s 100% Wool and 100% American made! From the sheep born and raised in the USA, to the mills that dye and spin the yarn, it’s 100% made right in our backyards. I don’t know about you, but I think that is very exciting.

Local Grown is a CYC 4 Worsted Weight Yarn and has a classic “Americana” color palette that will be a staple in your stash. It has amazing stitch definition, (just look at my Haddington Cowl!), and you can really feel the difference in the wool. It is not “itchy” to the touch like most natural wools tend to feel like, and this yarn is the perfect addition to my collection of favorites from Lion Brand.

The Haddington Cowl is a very beginner introduction to fair isle knitting. This cowl is knit seamlessly in the round with two contrasting colors, using only knit stitches. This design offers a classic yet captivating pattern, and is perfect for all skill levels.

This design was inspired by my love for simple and classic pieces that appeal to all skill levels. Making your own garments and accessories does not have to be super complicated. I love being able to take the most basic designs or stitches and elevating it just enough, like using high contrasting colors, to create an eye-catching design.
