This design has come such a long way since my original idea. I’d like to share a few things about the process with you, and why this is my favorite thing I have design and made to date!

My original idea was to do something really bright and fun that incorporated a lot of color work, which is different from my normal designs. I usually keep my finished items in solid or neutral colors, but I wanted to do something new for my first design, (and set the tone for future designs), in 2020. My original sample was a cream main color with mustard, forest green, grey, and red stripes. It turned out really cute, don’t get me wrong, but 4 stripes was not the right fit. So I went back to Joann to shop more color combos, knowing I only had 3 stripes to work with, and the pink ombre stripes took my breath away. I just knew the pinks were the winners – and it looked amazing with cream, grey, black, and all of the neutral main colors. I was so pumped!

This design uses Lion Brand Wool Ease – which is definitely my new favorite! I love the colors this yarn is offered in, and the color combos are truly endless. These patterns are definitely not limited to using Wool Ease, so you can substitute it for any worsted weight, #4 yarn, such as,

My girlfriends, Jess & Mary, and I went up north the weekend after I started working on this design and they gave me such great feedback and inspiration for the final pieces. Their input as consumers and friends really helped to bring this design to life and for that, I thank you both so much!

My amazing pattern testers also gave such great feedback – and totally blew me away with their color combo choices! I would like to say thank you to them and share some of their photos with you, because I love them all and perhaps they will give you some other color combo inspiration as you are picking out your own color palettes.
